More than just volunteering

In addition to volunteering, there are all kinds of outings, working groups and additional tasks that volunteers can sign up for. This way everyone can get satisfaction from their job at the castle. Some find it enough just to be a hall guide, others also take part in the volunteer council, participate in a working group or run tours in a language other than Dutch.

ACTIVITIES

A drink, an excursion, volunteer day. Every year there are several activities that volunteers look forward to. Fun activities organized (by and) for volunteers. As a highlight, every year there is a big volunteer party.

Widening

Of course, it is possible to do different jobs side by side. Volunteers who want to can also join the volunteer council or a working group in addition to their core volunteer job(s). Currently, there are several working groups: quality assurance, instructional guides, field trips, photos, knowledge and lectures. The latter group organizes lectures on a castle-related topic twice a year. All volunteers who want to may join to broaden their knowledge.

Deepening

Within a position, it is possible to go deeper as a volunteer. In some volunteer positions there are more opportunities for this than in others. For example, many hall guides would also like to do group tours. First they practice with this in Dutch. This can be a tour on the normal route, but they can also delve into a theme route. Then, if they like, they can go a little further. One specializes as a guide for elementary schools, the other as a guide of English, Spanish, Italian, Russian or even a combination thereof.
