In and around Castle de Haar there are countless animals to discover. The baron and baroness loved animals. That is why they played and still play an important role in the past. They had their own deer park, kept chickens, ducks, geese and so on. There were also wild animals on the estate, such as foxes, deer and hares. When important guests visited, the baron would have extra animals come to the castle to entertain his guests. And did you know that there used to be horses in the Main Hall, the large room in the middle of the castle? The baron also collected stuffed animals such as owls and herons and loved fabulous animals. If you look very carefully, you can discover lots of fantasy animals on the tapestries and decorations in the castle designed by the famous architect Pierre Cuypers, for example. Can you find them all?
