Restaurant Laverie

Restaurant Laverie can be found at the Stable Square, at the entrance to the castle. From 1900 this was the place for horses, carriages, automobiles and the service quarters of the van Zuylen van Nijevelt family. This is where the family's passion for travel and mobility came together, and in September it was a coming and going of the family and guests.
Baron Etienne was great lover of racehorses and unique carriages and champion of the automobile. Baroness Hélène de Rothschild was one of the first women with a driving license and participated in the first international automobile rally, between Paris and Amsterdam in 1898.

From Restaurant Laverie you have a beautiful view of the Stalplein and can dream away about how things were here in the early 1900s. Our staff will occasionally pull you out of your dream by asking if you would like something to drink or eat. Our chef is ready to spoil you culinary!

For the restaurant at the Stable Square, you do not need an entrance ticket. If you are hiking or biking in the area, you are also welcome to visit our restaurant!

Cafe Tuynhuis

The Tuynhuis used to be an aviary where the baron kept various species of birds. Today, the Tuynhuis is a catering location with beautiful views of the imposing castle and you may still see special birds flying from the terrace.

The Tuynhuis offers delicious snacks and pastries in addition to cold and hot drinks on our to-go buffet. After you have selected something delicious you can take a seat in the Tuynhuis or on our terrace.

Café Tuynhuis is located in the castle park. An entrance ticket is required to visit it.

In November 2024, the Tuynhuis will unfortunately be closed due to remodeling.
