Interior ensembles
There are monuments where the building and its furnishings truly form a whole: interior ensembles. The Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed has made a first inventory and put these special examples on the map. Castle de Haar is also on this map!
The Netherlands has a few thousand special monuments with furnishings closely related to them. Sometimes because the interplay is so conceived and made. The architect designed not only the building itself, but also the furniture, silverware and lamps. Most interiors, however, have grown over time. This special cultural heritage is called "interior ensemble.
Interior ensembles can be found in churches, country houses and administrative buildings, but they can also be monumental houses. The National Agency for Cultural Heritage wants to promote their recognition and acknowledgement, thus laying the foundation for the preservation of this special heritage.
Special stories
Via cultureelerfgoed.nl/interieurensembles you have access to more than 70 interior ensembles on a digital map, provided with beautiful images and special background stories about the owners and the creation of these ensembles. In De Tempelhof in Winssen, for example, the plant as visual language recurs everywhere. The designers see the plant as a metaphor for man.
The map also shows which ensembles are open to the public.
