Castle de Haar celebrates love

Feb. 8 to 21

From February 8 to 21, Kasteel de Haar celebrates love and a visit to the castle is extra romantic. Enjoy the Chapel in wedding setting, an atmospheric all-in package at our hospitality or a carriage ride at the weekend. Discover the tempestuous love story of Baron Etienne van Zuylen van Nijevelt and Hélène de Rothschild and entertain the children with the playful Heart Thief scavenger hunt. Discover the program and come enjoy a day out together under the sign of love!

Unique opening of the Chapel

During this period, you can admire the centuries-old, atmospheric Chapel next to the castle from the inside. Unique, because the Chapel is only occasionally open to the public! This is because this special location is often reserved for couples who say "I do" in the presence of their loved ones. Especially for this love week, the Chapel is therefore decorated in a beautiful wedding setting. This is where romance comes to life!

(daily between noon and 4 p.m.)
Please note: Thursday, February 13, the Chapel is closed

Of course also perfect for a special getaway with a friend or family member!

Discover historical love story

of the baron and baroness

Behind the walls of Castle de Haar are centuries-old love stories. During this week we highlight the tempestuous love story of Baron Etienne van Zuylen van Nijevelt and Baroness Hélène de Rothschild. They had the ruins of Castle de Haar rebuilt into a comfortable country residence in 1890 and created the tradition of annual grand receptions at the castle. During your visit to the castle, learn all about their first meeting, their forbidden marriage and the unexpected twists and turns of their eventful love story.

A unique moment in the carriage

On weekends, February 8, 9, 15 and 16, a carriage with graceful horses will ride through the castle gardens. Hop on for a unique experience and imagine yourself for a moment the baron and baroness of days gone by.

A scavenger hunt full of love for little ones

Children can do the Heart Thief Scavenger Hunt in the castle. Little sleuths (up to age 6) will search for the hidden hearts in the castle to discover who the heart thief is. A playful way to discover the castle!
