Carriages at Castle de Haar

Castle de Haar pulls the horses from the stable

Oct. 16, 2021

The brass and silverware is gleamingly polished, the horses are brushed and the coachmen and postilions already have their galley livery hanging ready. On Saturday, October 16, we will take you back to times gone by, during the exclusive carriage tour of Castle de Haar.

Carriages of Castle de Haar
Anyone who knows the story of the puissant wealthy van Zuylen van Nijevelt van de Haar family knows that Baron Etienne and Baroness Hélène had a fascination for carriages and automobiles. The original carriages of yesteryear have been fully restored in recent years. These masterpieces now retell the story of the past. The "calèche, victoria-duc, char-à-banc and the napoleon phaeton" have been preserved for posterity through museum restoration. But a carriage only really comes to life by putting horses in front of it. Although this is unlikely to happen very often; after all, these are museum pieces.

Belle époque

During the event "The Carriages of Castle de Haar" we will bring the atmosphere all the way back to the belle époque, the "beautiful time" before the First World War. Rarely will the romance in the castle park be so palpable as on Saturday, Oct. 16.

The event The Carriages of Castle de Haar can be visited on Saturday, Oct. 16, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the castle park of Castle de Haar. You only need a park ticket for the carriages event. If you want to have a nice picture of this wonderful time and hear all the stories, then choose a castle ticket. This already includes a park ticket.
