Discover the secrets of the 'Little KAsteel'

one-time OPENING Private Residence Castle THE HAAR

February 18 to June 6, 2022

This spring, discover the many stories of the Châtelet; the private residence of the Van Zuylen van Nijevelt family. The enthusiastic room guides will be happy to tell you about all the warm memories the family has of this "cozy Dutch Family Home."

"Beating Heart of the Hair"

The Châtelet is the beloved "Dutch" family home of the Van Zuylen family. The daughters of Baron Thierry van Zuylen van Nijevelt have fond memories of staying in the private house, next to the Castle. The Châtelet is also called 'The Beating Heart' of Castle de Haar. It symbolizes the connection of the baron and baroness with Castle de Haar, its surroundings and the people who work there. Many of the historic interiors breathe the medieval atmosphere for which master architect Pierre Cuypers and his son Joseph are famous, but there are also elegantly upholstered rooms in the style of the belle époque.

Especially for the little detectives: looking for the missing diamond necklace

A letter from the Baron is waiting for the little detectives at the Châtelet. He needs help to search for the missing diamond necklace. The necklace is the Baron's big gift for the Baroness' birthday. Help the Baron find the diamond necklace before the Baroness's birthday dinner begins. The treasure hunt is free with a visit to the Châtelet and is suitable for children from 6 to 10 years old.
