"I was still a toddler when I played 'snowflake' in the school Christmas performance. I started somewhere in the back, but in no time I was dancing in the front, I loved it! When I saw the hit musical 'The Phantom of the Opera' at the Circus Theatre two years later, I knew; this is what I wanted too!" And that girlhood dream came true. She played three seasons in the musical theater show 'Jeans' in which she was able to combine her love of theater, show, music and dance to the fullest. Together with the Orchestra of the Royal Air Force, she toured all over the country.
Special memories of Soldier of Orange, the musical.
Roos two consecutive years in the record-breaking musical "Soldier of Orange, the musical. "I really like variety, I get bored pretty quickly when I have to concentrate on one thing. Of course, I have special memories of the period with Soldier of Orange, the musical. In that I was enormously challenged as an actress. Moreover, that's where I met my boyfriend (actor Ayal Oost). And playing together with him is the most fun, whether it's drama or comedy." Roos was brought up on fairy tales. As a child, she was already a huge fan of Disney. "Fairy tales have always been my favorite, I really devoured everything from Disney. At the campground, I would stand by myself and perform entire ensemble numbers. Sometimes I got my older sister to join in. A blast! My mom told me the other day that when I cried in the playpen, she would get me to quiet down when she put on the video of Dombo, despite the fact that Dombo is, of course, really a cry movie, hahaha." Besides the well-known Disney classics, Roos also knows all the fairy tales of the Efteling by heart. "I have been playing at the Efteling for over 13 years. A tremendously fun and special place to work. I have been many a princess and have been playing different roles in 'Sprookjesboom' for a long time now, of which the witch is my favorite. Wonderful to be so deliciously badass!"
"The witch is my favorite anyway, wonderful to be so deliciously evil!"
Partly because of this, playing for children and families is right up her alley. "Children are tremendously honest in their reactions. You notice immediately if they don't like it or if they love it. That is sometimes quite confronting for an actor, but also incredibly challenging. The nicest thing is when children's performances are played in such a way that the parents can also laugh very hard at them. Once that happens, I have achieved my goal as an actor." In the "Fairy Tales of the Hair," the actors play different roles. "The more role changes, the more fun, there is a huge challenge in that for me as an actress. In 'Sprookjesboom' we also switch from one role to another enormously quickly. Switching quickly, blissful!" The show also incorporates well-known sing-along songs by K3, Andre Hazes or Kinderen voor Kinderen. "Personally, I like many kinds of music. From soul and funk to Top 40, and from Hazes, jazz to big Broadway musical hits. And a guilty pleasure are the sing-alongs of Tino Martin, a top hit." Despite having to work during the holidays, Rose looks forward to Christmas. "I can't remember other than having to work during the holidays, and I like that too. There is a special atmosphere then, which makes it extra special. We always do our best to make time one of the holidays to have a nice family dinner, long live gourmet!" On the way home, she then plays her favorite Christmas songs. "Then we turn the volume knob up to a nice 10 and sing along super loud with 'Santa Claus is coming to town' by Mariah Carey."
