Unprecedented luxury restored
It turned out to be the life’s work of baron Etienne van Zuylen van Nijevelt: the rebuilding of the dilapidated family estate De Haar. Thanks to the fortune of his wife Hélène de Rothschild and the ideas of architect Pierre Cuypers he succeeded wonderfully.
One of the things that makes De Haar Castle in Utrecht so special, is the unprecedented wealth and its luxury, both interior and exterior. The baron and his baroness collected an impressive collection of art pieces during their flamboyant life. Unique in the Netherlands, which we still get to enjoy every day.
